Description
Savannah cats are incredibly graceful and well-balanced. Their body is tall and slim. Savannahs are bigger than domestic cats and live 15 to 20 years depending on the care. Most of the height of a Savannah will be achieved in the first year, but still an inch or two might be added later on.
Savannah coat has dense short hair. The only accepted Savannah Cat pattern is spotted. The spotted Savannah pattern is made up of bold, solid dark spots which can be brown to black. According to TICA, following patterns are desirable:
- 1
Remarkably large ears are able to rotate 180 degrees as radar.
- 2
Hooded eyes make the cat look exotic
- 3
Black lacrimal spots that go from the corners of the eyes down to the whiskers. Their purpose is the reflection of light in the hunting time.
- 4
Long legs with dark spots
- 5
Long body with typical spotted pattern which resembles their wild Serval heritage
- 6
Medium length tail with dark rings
Brown Spotted Tabby (BST)
Сool to warm brown, tan or gold with black or dark brown spots
This is the most popular pattern. It most closely resembles their wild heritage. The cool toned cats have a very neutral-beige basecoat. As the tone warms up we will find a variation of browns that can be wheat-colored, sand, sable or a more vibrant yellow-golden.
Silver Spotted Tabby (SST)
Brown to charcoal spots on silver basecoat
This is probably the second most popular color chosen by the clients. The silver coloration was injected into the breed from the early creation of the breed when domestic cats of different breeds were used in creating the Savannah cats.
Black
